After you have hair transplant surgery, you need to know that you’re recovering normally. For that, check up appointments are held while you’re in the city. During these appointments, the doctor will give you information about the aftercare and what you should or shouldn’t do to make sure that it goes smoothly. Not attending them will only be to your detriment.
What Happens During Hair Transplant Check Up Appointment?
The day after the restoration surgery, you’d have to come back to the clinic for a check up. In general, there’s only one appointment, but you may have more. The following will happen during your visit:
- A member of the medical staff will clean your scalp and remove the bandages.
- Following that, your scalp will be examined (both the donor and transplanted areas). If you have bumped your head on your way to the check up, your surgeon will quickly place the hair grafts back into your scalp if it’s possible.
- After that, the surgeon will go over the aftercare instructions with you verbally. You need to make sure that you follow them for successful recovery. After the check up appointment, our team will also forward these to you via email.
- You will be given a demonstration of the way that you need to wash your scalp using the special shampoo and lotion that the surgeon provides. If you’re staying in Turkey for a little longer, you can have a second check up appointment where your scalp will be washed by the medical staff.
What If I Don’t Attend the Check Up Appointment After Hair Transplant?
If the person’s in a hurry, they can choose to travel back home soon after the surgery, missing their check up. In the event this happens, your host will go over the aftercare instructions with you over the phone. They’ll also go over the washing instructions with you. You can view the process on our YouTube channel or read more about it.
Why It’s Important For You To Attend Your Check Up Appointment?
It’s a good idea to attend your check up appointment for the following reasons:
You Can Ask Questions From Your Surgeon
One of the biggest advantages of attending check up appointments is that you get to ask as many questions as you have from your doctor. And that too, face-to-face. There are many individual variations between anatomies, medical histories, and hair loss types of individuals. Depending on your situation, you can get advice on matters that are unique to your situation.
You’ll Have More Clarity
It’s a good idea to have the aftercare instructions in a written form. However, at your check up appointment, you can go into greater detail on them. Having gone through the instructions more than once will also help you remember them better.
In addition, you’d know exactly what they mean, depending on your case. Getting a first-hand demo of scalp wash or, better yet, getting it washed by a medical staff member will prepare you to make no mistakes when you’re doing it on your own.
Your Scalp Is Examined In-Person for Possible Complications
Whilst the procedure is extremely safe, it is still a medical surgery, and some complications can occur. If that happens, your doctor will be able to see it in time so that they can start any treatment if it’s needed. If that’s not the case, you can at least have the peace of mind that everything’s going normally.
After your hair transplant surgery, it’s best if you attend the check appointment that takes place the next day. That’s because it will allow the surgeon to check your scalp and provide treatment for any problems that have occurred. In addition, you can ask any questions from your surgeon face-to-face.
This will help you get more clarity on the recovery process. Through this appointment, you’d also come to know how you need to wash your scalp the right way. If you’re in a hurry, you can skip them, but it’s best to attend them.
Keep in mind that once or twice your scalp will be examined in person, but we will also follow your recovery for the 12 months after the surgery. You’d periodically send us pictures of your scalp that we’ll get assessed by the surgeon.
