Taking the decision of having eyebrow transplant is usually a huge step for the patients since the outcome will bring them transformative results. Therefore, they usually put great importance on choosing the right clinic and allocate a lot of their time to search on the hair transplant techniques, surgeon options and other operation-related issues. At Longevita, we do our best to inform our patients about all the details of the surgery and provide them with free consultations as well as infographics, surgeon lookbooks and many before-after photos to help them during their research phase.

Although patients are usually pretty curious about the operation and put great effort to learn more about it, unfortunately, they may not do the same for the aftercare process and might tend to undervalue it. Patients tend to believe that once the surgery is successfully completed, the journey and full results are visible or complete. However,  the aftercare process is just as important as the procedure itself. To see permanent and healthy results, the patients need to take care of their transplanted areas.  Let’s have a look at how you should watch out for your transplant eyebrows after the procedure.

One of the Essentials: Your Check-Up Appointment

It is a fact that eyebrow transplant surgery is a safe procedure, but you need to keep in mind that it is still a medical surgery and thus requires a check-up appointment. The day after the eyebrow transplant, Longevita sets a checkup session with your highly-trained surgeon. Therefore, your surgical areas and bleeding can be checked and the dressing can be changed. To ensure the success of the surgery, the post-operative instructions also will be explained. One of the most significant pieces of advice when it comes to eyebrow transplant aftercare is to listen to your doctor’s instructions. Since every person is different, your doctor will give you personalised aftercare advice.

Remember, Progress Requires Time

Just as in the post-surgery process of a regular FUE hair transplant, the results from an eyebrow transplant aren’t instantly visible either. To see the first results, you will need to be patient. While the recovery after the surgery is pretty quick, it still takes more or less three months for new eyebrow hair to grow, and the final result with maximum growth can be seen after the completion of the first year. During the 12-month aftercare process, you can always book a call with your Longevita Aftercare Specialist for your questions.

Time to Trim Your Eyebrows

Months past and when you look at the mirror, you see a gorgeous set of bushy brows, how great is that! However, since the transplanted eyebrow hair is taken from the scalp, it acts as it is still on the scalp in the first months and grows faster than the original eyebrow hair. Normally, eyebrow hair stops growing when they are about 2 or 2,5 centimetre long, but the transplanted hair will keep growing. Therefore, you will need to trim them once or twice monthly. It’s nothing to worry about, after some time the hair will get used to it and stop growing when it reaches the regular length.

Things to Avoid During the Aftercare Process

Please do not drink alcoholic beverages for the first two days after your surgery. Alcohol thins the blood and may cause bleeding. If you are prescribed to narcotic pain medication, avoid alcohol consumption while using the medication.

To ensure the survival of the transplanted hair we suggest not to smoke for at least two weeks after your surgery. Since smoking is extremely harmful to your general health, you may consider quitting smoking altogether.

After your surgery, avoid swimming in the pool for 2 weeks. Avoid any direct sun exposure on the grafted area for the first 3 or 4 weeks. You can wear a hat to avoid the sun, and make sure to wear sunscreen as well to guarantee the best protection.
